The Tanach Series

The Tanakh Series was begun in 2017 to engage with the issues of visual art and the Hebrew Bible. Individual paintings were imagined as a grouped sequence, pairing one painting with each book, although as the project progressed, there were several additions. The works are a synthesis of German and American Expressionism, Pop references to Science Fiction, and Horror Movies, Biblical Epics of the 1950s, especially Cecil B. DeMille ‘s The Ten Commandments, 1956, Comic Books, such as the works of Jack Kirby and Will Eisner, as well as strong autobiographical and observed references. It is an ongoing series.
