Work Experience In Arts Education & Special Education

  • 2002- 2016 (Retired) -, Art Teacher, Special Education Teacher, - Coalition School for Social Change 2351 1st Ave. New York, NY 10035. Student populations ages 14-18.
  • Designed pedagogy and curriculum 9th Grade Introduction to Art, 10th and 11th Grade Major Art, Senior Portfolio Development, Advisory and Art Club according to state- wide curriculum in art, the arts “Blueprint” and statewide Common Core curriculum in academic subjects.
  • Extensive training in Common Core curriculum and Art linkages to Common Core subjects.
  • Extensive training in Special Education populations, SETTS, ICT co-teaching, differentiation, Foreign language learners.
  • Responsible for meeting with subject teachers and planning lessons, activities, testing and evaluation for both Special Education and mainstream students.
  • Teacher and administrative functions for Visual Arts program. Region 9 Arts Liaison until 2006, presently reconfigured as District 2.

  • Chosen as an official partner in a nation- wide study with Studio in a School conducted by Arts Achieve as a formative and summative study highlighting testable skills assessment in the visual arts.
